Classy Classroom

At the beginning of the school year I purchased this adorable Scotch tape high heel shoe dispenser.
Cute, right? Well- I knew I could make it even better! At first I thought giving it a signature Christian Louboutin red sole would be good enough. But then I saw this blinged out pair and knew I needed to go big!
Does it get any more fabulous than rhinestones? I don't think so!

Using just two items, I was able to create, quite arguably, the most amazing tape dispenser in the world (insert evil laugh here.)  I bought a sheet of duck tape (didn't even know this existed!) and some "Bling on a Roll" which is a life saver! Originally I was thinking that I would have to use individual bling pieces and burn my hands with the hot glue gun. My thirteen year old self is so in love with the "bling on a roll." It's pretty darn cool!

After about thirty minutes, I was done!
AAAHHHHHH so Obsessed!!!!!! It's beautiful!

Here are some more "before" and "after" pictures:
Before on the left. After on the right.

Now when I look at my desk, I am filled with glee...and thoughts of shopping.

Watch out desk! Bling on a roll may be back soon to cover any and every existing surface!!!

Jewelry Organization

In past posts, I've expressed my extreme distaste for my small closet (this post explains it all.) Don't get me wrong, I love love love my house! But, the closet is not quite big enough. Since there's no room to expand it, I just have to make the best of what I have. And the only way to do that is to be extremely organized and utilize every inch provided!
Well, now I have an issue...jewelry! What the heck do I do with all of it?!? I've tried jewelry chests, but it didn't quite keep things organized the way I like it and all my jewelry didn't fit in a large chest! AH! What to do? What to do? I haven't decided yet, but I have done some research to get some ideas. Hopefully by spring break I'll come up with a good solution! In the mean time, here are some ideas I've been entertaining.

Oreo and Peanut Butter Brownie Cakes

Stop what you're doing and go bake these right now! OMG they're SO good! I found this life changing recipe from pickypalate and fell in love with her entire website. Every recipe on her site is so fabulous. There's no doubt I'll be making lots of her creative and delicious dishes soon!

Ingredients:

1 box brownie mix, 8×8 inch size
24 Oreo Cookies
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and line a 12 muffin cup baker with paper liners.
2. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. For each cupcake cup spread 1 teaspoon of peanut butter over 2 Oreo cookies and stack them on top of each other. Spoon 2 Tablespoons of brownie batter over each stacked oreos and let it run down the sides of the cookies. If you have left over brownie batter, bake separately in a separate baker or muffin tin. Bake cookies and brownies for 18 to 20 minutes, until brownies are cooked through. Let cool completely then serve.
Makes 12 servings

10 Must Have Closet Basics

As a shopaholic, there are a few pieces that I think are absolutely mandatory in each woman's closet. Here's a list of my top ten must have closet basics.

1. A great pair of black/brown flat boots

You can wear flat boots any time of the year. When you have one pair in black and/or one in brown, any outfit can be transformed.
Both boots are froms Nordstroms

2. Perfect Jeans

Every woman needs a pair of perfect jeans. The perfect cut, color, wash, fit, etc. I always buy my favorite brands (Joes Jeans,  Citizens of Humanity , 7 For All Mandkind ) and get them hemmed to fit me perfectly. Even if you have just one pair of perfect jeans, you're set! You will instantly feel so confident in a great fitting pair of jeans.

3. Comfortable Dress

Whether it's a maxi dress, long sleeved, strapless...whatever! A cute and simple dress can go a long ways. This dress is from Old Navy and can be worn any time of the year. Throw on some cute accessories and mix in some colored shoes and you have a killer outfit!

4. Black pants

This specific pair of black pants is my absolute favorite! They're from Express and they're actually leggings. Regardless, they fit amazing and I'm obsessed with them! I wear them at least once a week and have gone through 3 pairs already. A fabulous pair of black pants is essential to every wardrobe. You'll always need them for something!

5. Diamond Studs

Ok Ok. I know what you're thinking. Diamond studs?! What?!!? Not everyone can afford fabulous and amazing diamond studs (me included!) but CZ studs are just as great! I wear CZ studs almost every day. The bigger the better! Every outfit needs a little bling!

6. Black Pumps

This should be a no-brainer. Every woman needs black pumps. This specific pair is one of my favorite brands, Cole Haan . Investing some money in a decent, comfortable, and practical pair of black pumps is timeless. Any height, material, or style will never go out of style.

7. Denim Jacket

About ten years ago I bought the cutest denim jacket. Years later I ended up donating it because it was "out of style." BIG mistake! I miss it and wish I could find an exact replica today! My mom always told me that fashion goes in a circle, and boy- she was right! Unfortunately, I couldn't find it, but did end up finding a cute denim jacket at Macys
The jacket pictured is from Gap.

8. White Shirt

A basic white shirt is key to any look. You can dress it up or down and wear it during any season. It will never ever go out of style. This specific shirt is from Express and is my favorite. The way it cuts in on the side gives it a figure flattering silhouette and looks great on every body type.

 9. Pearls

I know that diamonds are a girls best friend, but I sure do like pearls too. I bought this necklace at Kohls and wear it all of the time! It has just the right ratio of bling to peals. Pearls are timeless and classic. It's easy to dress them up or down.

 10. Black Flats

Black flats are the best. You can wear them every single day. This pair of Tory Burch flats is a great staple in my wardrobe. Comfortable and cute- just the way I like it!

When it comes to shopping, I like to invest in these ten pieces. They are all items that I wear frequently, never go out of style, and can easily be mixed and matched with anything. I like to spend good money on pieces like these and then spend less money on trendy items such as jewelry, scarves, cardigans, etc.

Chicken Taco Chili

Ran across this recipe on one of my favorite sites, skinnytaste.com, and it is just as tasty as it looks! Simple, delicious, and plentiful!

Crock Pot Chicken Taco Chili
Servings: 10

1 onion, chopped
1 16-oz can black beans
1 16-oz can kidney beans
1 8-oz can tomato sauce
10 oz package frozen corn kernels
2 14.5-oz cans diced tomatoes w/chilies
1 packet taco seasoning
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp chili powder
24 0z. (3) boneless skinless chicken breasts
chili peppers, chopped (optional)
chopped fresh cilantro

Combine beans, onion, chili peppers, corn, tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder and taco seasoning in a slow cooker. Place chicken on top and cover. Cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 6 hours. Half hour before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in. Top with fresh cilantro. Also try it with low fat cheese and sour cream (extra points).
