Custom Nail Polish

I was amazed when my nail lady bust out some powdered eyeshadow and mixed it in with regular, clear acrylic powder to create a custom nail color! Genius! This can also be done with clear, liquid nail polish and your favorite powdered eyeshadow. The possibilities are endless...!

Crock Pot BBQ Chicken

I'm 100% positive that the crock pot is the best invention ever! Life truly couldn't get an easier! Here's a recipe for delicious BBQ chicken. Throw is extra chicken and say "hello" to leftovers!
-
Ingredients:
*5 chicken breasts-I recommend thawed so that the BBQ sauce stays nice and thick and the chicken absorbs it better.
*1 bottle of BBQ sauce
*Red peppers to liking
* 1/4 cup brown sugar
*2 tbs. vinegar
* 1 tbs. cheyanne pepper

Throw it all in on low for 4-6 hours and enjoy!

Personal Trainer

This iphone app is my new favorite! It's called "Ease into 5k" and is basically a personal trainer. It's literally the voice in your head that keeps you going. It has preplanned workouts and tells you what you should be doing, and when. After 8 weeks, you should be ready to run in a 5k (hopefully I will!) Just turn on a little Pandora along with this app and you're set to run!

Wine Night

Nothing like good food, friends, and wine!
 How cute are these napkins?!

Using Microsoft Publisher, I made these wine name tags for everyone.

Ordinary cheese and crackers become a little more festive with the help of cookie cutters for the cheese.

Linen Closet Organization

I sure do love the simplicity and ease of my linen closet! My sheet sets are neatly folded and in baskets, which make them much easier to access at the top shelf. Everything is labeled and has a specific home in the closet!

Kitchen Cork Board

After organizing my pantry, I felt like it needed something more. After perusing through Pinterest, I decided a cork board would be perfect! I found cork tiles at Michaels Crafts and used the sticky back adhesive to secure the tiles. Then added some cute ribbon and some fun tac pins and my cork board was completed! I found some great printouts (http://artsyfartsymama.blogspot.com/2012/01/lets-get-organized-printable.html)with a weekly schedule and weekly menu to add to my board. I placed the papers in a protective plastic sheet so I can write on them with an Expo marker and just erase at the end of the week. It's also a great spot for me to keep my recipes for the week. I love it! Very easy and inexpensive project!

Vintage Decor

I stumbled across this vintage chalkboard at a local antique store and fell in love. The saleswoman informed me it's from the 1930's and was used on a train. What a cool find! Of course, I added my own personal touch with my typical menu.

Scrubbing Bubbles to the Rescue!

Unbenounced to me, apparently we can not use toilet tablets with the specific toilets we have in our new house. After using them for a month or so, we noticed it was causing damage and after Googling our toilet model, we discovered that sure enough, we were correct.Great! Those tablets are total lifesavers! Luckily, I discovered a solution to this problem! Scrubbing Bubbles makes a toilet cleaning gel that works amazing! One a week I just push a new dot of gel and it's good as new!

Pantry Organization

Although many of us with we had this pantry, let's get real. Most of don't, and probably never will.
We're lucky enough if we have some extra cupboards to spare for our food! With that said, I gave my pantry a realistic makeover. Nothing fancy, just simply organized and simple; My two favorite adjectives. Here is my pantry before...eek!!!

After many trips to TJMaxx, Home Goods, Ross, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I managed to scrounge together multiple Oxo Pop containers. They are great because they can be stacked nicely and preserve food with their air-tight seal. Then I labeled as many things as I possibly could. I found some wonderful labels on the Better Homes and Garden website (http://www.bhg.com/decorating/storage/organization-basics/free-printable-storage-labels/?page=8) and ta da! My pantry is complete!

When organizing, there's no need to get all fancy. Just be real! Do what will work for you and what you know that you can realistically maintain!

Cookies & Cream Cupcake

These cupcakes are such a delicious treat! Any Oreo lover will appreciate the amazing consistency and taste of the cupcakes and frosting! Yum!

Ingredients

  • 24 Oreo halves, with cream filling attached
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 20 Oreo cookies, coarsely chopped (I quarter them)
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 6 tbsp. unsalted butter, at room
  • temperature
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 2 tbsp. heavy cream
  • Oreo cookie crumbs
  • 24 Oreo cookie halves

-Preheat the oven to 350˚ F. Line the wells of two cupcake pans with 24 paper liners. Place an Oreo halve in the bottom of each liner, cream side up. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt; stir together with a fork to blend and set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar and beat together on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Blend in the egg whites one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in the vanilla extract. With the mixer on low speed, beat in half of the dry ingredients just until incorporated. Add the milk and beat just until combined, then mix in the remaining dry ingredients. Gently fold in the chopped Oreos with a rubber spatula until evenly incorporated, being careful not to over-mix.
-Evenly divide the batter between the prepared cupcake liners. Bake for 18-20 minutes, rotating the pans halfway through baking, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pans 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-To make the frosting, combine the cream cheese and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat on medium-high speed until smooth, about 1 minute. Blend in the vanilla extract. Beat in the confectioners’ sugar until incorporated and smooth, 1-2 minutes. Add the heavy cream to the bowl and beat on medium-low speed just until incorporated, then increase the speed to medium-high and whip for 4 minutes until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
-Frost the cooled cupcakes as desired. Sprinkle with Oreo crumbs and garnish with Oreo halves

Kitchen Storage Made Easy

I was stacking my pots and pans for years and always thought it was a hassle to get one from under the other. I found a simpler way to deal with this problem. Using cup hooks, I screwed them into the top of a shelf, allowing my pots and pans to hang. Now I have no trouble finding them, and they always have a home.

Health Iphone Apps.

I wanted to share my two favorite fitness apps with you today. The first app is Map My Run. It's free and is great for tracking your runs, walks, bike rides, etc. It shows your route, how far you ran, your speed, heart rate, and so many more things. I never run without it!

The second app is My Fitness Pal. This app is so helpful for tracking calories. It has most foods and brands in the system, all you do is type in what you ate, and it will calculate how many calories you consumed. It's a very simple and easy food journal and also tracks your weight, exercise journal, and allows you to share your progress with others.
