Engagement Party

I had so much fun decorating for my friend's engagement party a few weeks ago! Here are a few of my favorite details from the party:

Chalkboards were used throughout the house. This fun sign was by the front door.

Paper hearts were hung throughout the house to add some fun and festive color!

Fun way to display cookies in this stand accented with ribbon.

I love this huge lantern! It can be used for so many different things!

My favorite part of the party-the cake! The groom is a hunter and this cake is so perfect!  Unbelievable job by More Than Cakes !!

I wanted to share this printable worksheet (right click and save image) with you. My husband and I fill it out every year and keep them in a book to look back on. It's a fun little tradition that helps us reflect on our past and look forward to the future!

Pin the nose on the reindeer can be played in your classroom, at home, or at a work party! My students absolutely loved it! Even though no one got close (including 6 adults!), we still had a blast trying!

Classroom Elf

Our classroom elf, Bella, got into a lot of trouble this past week! Some days she was nice, and others she was very naughty!
Bella read a lovely story to her friends.

Just hanging around the classroom.

Bella built a Jenga fort!
She was so tired and decided a tissue box was the best spot for her nap.
Just catching up on some Christmas shopping.
Snow angel fun!
An intense game of tic-tac-toe going on in class.

This simple recipe packs a big punch of flavor. Can't ever go wrong with a crock pot recipe! When I made this, the chicken almost pulled apart by itself which was perfect for leftover tacos!

-1 can salsa
-1 package of taco seasoning
-1 1/4 cup fat free cream cheese
-shredded cheese to liking

1. Place chicken, salsa, and taco seasoning in crock pot.
2. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
3. The last ten minutes, add cream cheese. Garnish with cheese and enjoy over rice, in a burrito, etc!

Elf on the Shelf in the Classroom

I just introduced "Elf on the Shelf" in my classroom today and the students loved it! It's such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit and is a great tool to use to enforce good behavior.

First, I read the story to the class.
Next, we voted on a name for our classroom elf. After many choices, the class voted on Bella!

Once our elf had a name, we decorated the door. After all, she needs a way to get in and out of the classroom!
Lastly, we did a craft activity. Students created their own elf and wrote about it!
I printed the craft activity from Teachers Pay Teachers using a variety of worksheets:

Both activities are free to download!

On Monday, the class will walk into Bella's first mischevious activity!
Someone was a bad elf!

Stay tuned for updates on Bella's adventures!

Chubby Hubby Truffles

I absolutely love truffles because they're incredibly easy to make and so delicious! always has yummy and easy recipes to make and as always, this recipe didn't disappoint!

Chubby Hubby Buckeye Truffles Recipe:
(Recipe from The Brown Eyed Baker)
Yield: About 18 truffles
Prep Time: 20 minutes | Chill Time: 1 hour, total

1½ cups pretzel pieces
½ cup creamy peanut butter
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
Pinch of salt
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 cup milk or semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

1. Put the pretzel pieces into a resealable plastic bag and crush into very small bits (a rolling pin works great for this).
2. In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter, butter, brown sugar and salt. Stir until all of the ingredients are completely blended and smooth. Add the pretzel bits to the peanut butter mixture and mix thoroughly. Add the powdered sugar and mix until completely combined.
3. Line a small baking sheet with wax paper. Using a small cookie scoop, or about 2 teaspoons worth of peanut butter mixture, gently shape into a ball with your fingertips. Place the ball on the wax paper-lined cookie sheet and repeat with the remaining peanut butter mixture. Place the baking sheet into the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes.
4. When ready to dip the truffles, microwave the chocolate chips and vegetable shortening together in a small bowl at 50% power in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth.
5. Working one at a time, dip one peanut butter-pretzel ball into the melted chocolate and use a fork to roll it around, ensuring that it is completely coated with chocolate. Let any extra chocolate drip off and place back on the wax paper-lined sheet. Repeat with all of the peanut butter-pretzel balls.
6. Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and again chill for at least 30 minutes. Garnish with a drizzle of melted peanut butter and crushed pretzels, if desired. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
